We find ourselves in an era where instant gratification and rapid outcomes have become the expected norm.

How fast will my teeth move ? “ and How can we get them to move faster ?” are questions often heard in my orthodontic practice almost everyday.

Concepts of Fast Braces” and The Speed system” have seen the light, creating certain expectations.

The rate of tooth movement is strictly bound by the rate of cellular turnover in the bone surrounding our teeth called alveolar bone. All teeth are suspended in a delicate hammock of fine elastic fibres collectively called the periodontal ligament.

For teeth to move a very complicated mechanism exists where the forces exerted by the braces will cause pressure on the one side and tension on the other. These forces will stimulate cells within the bone ( osteocytes ), to convert to bone eating cells on the pressure side ( osteoclasts ) and to bone forming cells (osteoblasts) on the tension side.

This delicate fascinating process allows tooth movement and can not be sped up beyond nature’s allowances.  This is what is referred to as the physiology of bone metabolism.

In recent times many attempts, often costly and drastic, have been made to accelerate this natural process. Procedures such as pre-treatment surgical exposure of the bone with tiny holes or cuts made in the bone by a periodontist are sometimes used or another less invasive method called Photo Bio Modulation ( PBM ) uses LED light beams placed inside the mouth to enhance the rate of tooth movement.

But, at C O N C E L O we are proud to announce CONCELO RAPID ALIGN. Our patients teeth move extremely fast by using only ultra-light forces which allow the rate of cellular turnover to occur at the maximum allowable rate because the micro (very tiny) blood vessels are not blocked by higher forces – so the teeth literally slide’ into their new, straight positions. No brute force is needed here, only gentle encouragement and the alignment will happen.  Costly add-ons are never required. Furthermore, using such extremely light and delicate force levels, means that we have total control over movement and only need to do adjustments to your braces every8-10 weeks. In busy lifestyles this is a luxury.  Our technique allows us to free up more of your valuable time with less travelling for appointments.

Lets look at some examples:

As shown below, the braces can be placed behind the upper teeth ( Lingual Orthodontics ) and the lightest wire ever invented is usually applied where the teeth are really skew to start with. In combination with the design type of braces that we use at C O N C E L O, the forces aligning your teeth will be the most gentle in ALL of orthodontic techniques.
